A situation arose last year where the club was promised publicity which was not given, even though every official of the club spent a great deal of time face to face, on line and on the telephone with reporters. In addition to this many photographs were taken and interviews done even on campsites.Despite this the promised publicity was never given, as a result most of Tyneside obtained no news of the clubs formation.

As a result a meeting of the clubs steering committee was held in January 2006; here the committee passed a resolution that no elections to appoint elected officers of the club would be held until at least February 2007. This decision was not taken lightly however after a great deal of debate and after consulting a number of members that would give a simple majority of the total membership of the club (and receiving unanimous support from all) the decision was made that the steering committee should carry on unopposed.) The committee then made the decision to (a) keep the membership fee at £10 for all classes of membership, and (b) members who joined last year would receive complementary membership this year. We unanimously feel that the membership had not reached expected number thus limiting the number of rallies the club could hold. It was a blow to the new club when it had to cancel last years rally at Corbridge AS NOT ONE SINGLE MEMBER OUTSIDE OF THE COMMITTEE SHOWED ANY INTEREST IN THE RALLY. Late last summer we were offered a rally venue at very short notice we contacted as many members that we could at literally 2 hours notice and held a small rally in North Yorkshire.

So this year we feel we can make great strides with the club, already we are in negotiation to try and obtain the best price for rally fields and have a choice of venues for our Easter Rally one in Northumberland (nice but expensive) one in Durham (great site but limited Numbers) and one in North Yorkshire. So in the next week or so we will meet again to make a decision and let you know as soon as possible.

SO WHILST WE DID NOT MAKE THE PROGRESS WE HAD HOPED LAST YEAR, WE DID OBTAINED OUR EXCEMPTION CERTIFICATES FROM DEFRA,

 AND DID ESTABLISH TYNE AND WEAR’S OWN CAMPING AND CARAVAN CLUB.

PLEASE NOTE to attend any of our rallies you must be in possession of your membership cards for at least 24 hours. Therefore a members only rule will apply for all rallies. You can not join on the day it must be done before THE RALLY. To get your card we would advice you to join at once. It takes at least a week or ten days to get your membership processed. Sorry as you know this was not our plan but it is THE RULE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE.
